This piece of... kit quietly failed on me.

It was turning on, giving an "OK" beep, showing the red light confirming that it's recording.
But when I needed to get the footage from it - I couldn't connect to it.
The camera was blinking in and out of "my devices" on my phone, not long enough to connect.
When I took the SD card and plugged it into a PC - SD card was corrupted and unreadable.

It's an unforgivable sin for a dashcam - failing quietly. I don't know how many more people are in the same boat - relying on a camera that has stopped recording a long time ago but doesn't report any failures. So it would be a good idea to check yours if you have one.

I was connecting to it semi-regularly - usually once every month or two (or three) and last time I checked all was good - exactly the same everything but camera was connecting and showing videos and streaming footage.
I've got the camera maybe 2 or 3 years ago, but I'm not sure. The SD card is as recommended as I could find - SanDisk grade 10 32GB from a reputed retailer.
I verified the SD card adapter and USB port are fine by plugging another SD card in - it showed fine.
I verified the power supply by taking the camera home and plugging it into the home wall charger - same behaviour.

I swore at it profusely, as I was extremely frustrated after being let down by it.

That's sad to hear.

Sadly a standard SD card has limited write cycles, and will wear out. A smaller card like 32 GB will wear out faster than a larger card. Endurance SD cards are essential for dashcams for long term reliability.
