Hardwire Mini 0801

Hmm...first thing that I noticed: the battery is not charging anymore -> there is only the blue led flashing, even if I discharged the battery. I will wait and see if it will charge...maybe only the led is wrong.

...ok, I confirm that charging is not working anymore. I assume that the battery is OK, as long as I could use it for 20 minutes in the beginning.
The rest of the features seem to be OK.
Do you know if it is complicated to fix (by some specialist) ? I assume that there is some small component dead, but it might be that it can not be changed due to position on the mainboard... :(

Morning, I'm going to attempt to hardwire my new camera in once all the bits arrive and that I can find a power source to suit. Fiat 500's do not make fuse access easy and the 12v cigarette socket is in the engine compartment. I am going to use the 12v - 5v dual USB to provide the power.

I have read elsewhere regarding power savers such as the Blackvue Power Kit and Power Kit Pro.

Is there anything in the UK that will work in this way for the Mini 081. I am thinking along the lines of motion detection etc when the car is switched off etc? Seen above that the Prober Battery Saver has been mentioned but cannot find any info on this through the web?

Thanks

In the engine compartment?!

I use one of these, which has worked flawlessly. Connect to any old ignition live 12V supply and it'll give a nice clean 5V output at up to 3A with very high efficiency (and thus low heat output).

I've not tried the motion detection on the 0801, but for it to work the power supply would have to be permanently live. The camera allegedly draws about half an amp at 5V (so about 0.25A at 12V through "my" regulator) which will take a significant proportion of your (small) car's battery within a few of days.

About reversing + with - : it was partially solved. I took it to an electronics service and they could not "make it like new" but they did some workaround.
Now the camera is charging the battery, but the red led is not blinking when charging -> no problem for me.
The bad part is that, even when the camera is not recording, the battery is discharging completely in 3-4 hours -> it means that it looses the date/time. This is not such big issue for me.
BTW: Mini0801 battery is soldered to the mainboard, so if you want to change it (and sooner or later you will have to do it) is not so easy.
