Hardwire not powering dashcam (fuses ok)

I bought a dash cam hardwiring kit and installed it in my fuse box, however the dashcam won't turn on. It gets power to the other end of the fuse connection(verified with multimeter) and I tested the dash cam w the cigarette lighter plug.

Could the hardwire plug be no good?

A few things to try, apologies if you’ve dome some of these before:
- verify you’ve tapped a fuse location that is actually powered (some locations are blanks with no power)
- verify the fuse tap is properly oriented (not backwards)
- verify that the fuse in your fuse tap is good
- verify your ground wire is actually grounded to the car body (check continuity to another screw head with dmm)
- verify that the usb end of the cord actually provides power (need a usb power meter - plenty on amazon for $15)
- physically inspect cable for nicks, breaks, or pinch spots

There are different videos for different makes of dash camera, as their hardwire kits might come with different colored wires for BATTERY+ and ACC red/yellow

But the general rules for selecting and attaching a fuse tap are the same for all
