Have files download to your SD card instead of phone storage

My phone storage is almost full, but my SD card got lots of space. Is there a setting to change where your pictures and videos download? I found under SETTINGS>CAMERA SETTINGS>CAMERA STORAGE MANAGEMENT there's a button that says FORMAT, but no way am i gonna try that button and risk it reformatting my whole phone SD card. Also tried CAMERA SETTINGS, DEVICE STORAGE MANAGEMENT, ADVANCED SETTINGS... Seems like there should be a way but I can't find it.
