Have VIOFO abandoned the a329?

@viofo @VIOFO-Support

I run a 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit, ex-Broward County Sheriff’s Office, in Sherwood Green Metallic (PGG fleet color). I bought it at 96k miles, and it’s now over 200k — still a daily driver, not just a show car. I’ve been slowly restoring it while keeping it functional and authentic. Most people stop to ask questions when they see it, especially at local Cars & Coffee meetups and cruise-ins, because of its law-enforcement history and fully operational setup. It’s become a fun project and a way to connect with other car enthusiasts.

No one on here seems to be doing exactly this – daily-driving an ex-police Charger Pursuit restored with public safety equipment and doing content creation. Here's the simple breakdown
Currently the A129 Pro Duo is wired via a 3.5 to female RCA. I then have RCA to USB capture card. I use OBS to view, stream and record as I want. Speaking to VIOFO they liked what I'm doing so they sent me a
A329S 3CH for my 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit, however I'm skipping the cabin camera to get full 60fps front 4K recording. Should be installing later this week.

COME TO FIND OUT THE A329S DOES NOT HAVE HDMI OUT.......I NEED THE A329 2CH and I was told they are not made anymore.

How do you plan to use the HDMI video output, will you connect with a big screen?

The A329 2CH with HDMI version is discontinued, but we do have another version with HDMI output, we hold the releasing.

I thought I was pretty clear I have the live feed from my current A129 pro duo going into a Panasonic toughbook computer. This is for recording and streaming. As I said above I have been officially sponsored.

How can I find out about the camera "but we do have another version with HDMI output, we hold the releasing."
Maybe we can send a special sample to you in 2026 if you need the HDMI output.

Most of the dashcams in the market doesn't support video direct output now.

There's an irresponsible support team. They gather information from people but don't act on it. In short, it's a deceptive, delaying, and unethical approach.

Misleading users is not a good thing. I hope these irresponsible employees, who are diminishing a once great company like Viofo, will be replaced.

I must admit that the Viofo A329 2CH HDMI camera also surprised and disappointed me greatly. I bought it as soon as it was available in my region. I had high hopes of being able to use its HDMI output with my ALPINE ILX 905D as a rearview camera for parking. I upgraded from the A129 Plus Duo, which had served me well. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the image, which sometimes worked, other times froze. Sometimes the camera's OSD menu would appear on the radio display, but there was no preview of the camera image. Eventually, I disconnected the HDMI cable. The camera itself works fine, but I was hoping for more. And now Viofo claims to have a different camera with HDMI. It's quite frustrating, because I bought a device that, for some reason, was quickly discontinued. I'm essentially left stranded with a feature I can't use...

Oh I cant wait for another waste of money HDMI output dash camera. Its always great when consumers / customers pay a premium for an output that less than 1% will ever use. At leas the SSD port had a higher adoption rate. Why not just have a small run of A329 HDMI output for people who want that. Mass production is a waste.

Why don't we bring back 1080p dash cameras as well?

For clarity...sponsored by whom, and to what extent? Are you now testing, or about to test, an HDMI implementation of the A329S?

The freezing and lost control of buttons on the unit itself for me was disappointing.
I had a similar idea to you except I wanted to place it in a people mover so the passengers could see the road from their seats.
I agree with others that it is a niche market.
The people mover never got off the ground due to the unreliable results.
Oh and before I get comments like who wants to see that while on a drive. The screen could also be switched to another device that plays movies etc.

Having a bad day? lol

In your market just image the potential customers you currently don't see, (yes it is an assupltion) like fleet owners of tourist buses that may want to show the passengers the road ahead as a bonus to just looking out the side windows.
And it really would suit fleet owners as they could also have a ssd setup so they can record the trip perhaps even be able to sell the video to the passengers.

HDMI output to a dashcam is one thing; exterior/interior forward-view cameras to an interior TV screen is another. Some U.S. charter buses have a TV screen with a DVD player, but the driver controls the DVD player, and generally the movie playing needs to be acceptable to all passengers. Almost all buses have a forward signage to announce something and of course, a speaker. However, if you are at the back of the bus, that sign may be difficult to see. I would guess a forward view camera providing video would be of marginal use unless there was a video screen in the back headrest of each seat.

Mean while, if you ever get a chance to fly first class on a JAL A350-1000 you will love the exterior camera views. 🙂

Yeah as a nerd I love the 13:14 view but how the hell did he manage to get this shot at 13:27 that's one hell of a long selfie stick!

As far as fleet buses go I was thinking on the lines of 10 passenger type of size. In the US I know that is basically the size of one of those pick up trucks!

What is the firmware on your A329? You may update to the latest firmware (2.0 version) to test first.
