Help with chosing budget action camera

Some of the extendable ones have a tripod socket on the handle end so you could screw a floating one onto the end of an extendable one for use in water.
 
Last some questions,
1)which version of Yi is the best for stills photos
2)Can i swith photo/video mode only by useing the camera (without app)
3)Is the 60M case is durble enough and good choice (i want to buy 2 pcs because i go to a long trip,and dont think that i will find xiaomi case at south america)
