I'm coming from an old Qvia AR790M-2CH system that is starting to get flaky. Video from the rear camera flashes and has lines. The problem is that this causes a constant motion detection so actual motion events get overwritten. This existing system is FHD+HD front/rear if I remember correctly.

My understanding is that higher resolution usually results in worse low-light performance. What is the best compromise of high resolution and low light performance these days? I want at least 2 channels again, and may be open to adding side cameras if someone makes a good 4 channel system. I want a minimum of 1080p. The highest possible bitrate, the better.

I actually installed a lithium battery in my car and it lasts so much longer than the lead acid battery. I can leave it recording for a week and still have no issues starting up later. So I want a good parking motion detection system as well as constant driving recording, with GPS to keep the time accurate.

Given your requirements for high resolution, excellent low-light performance, and robust parking features, I recommend considering options from VIOFO or Thinkware. Both brands are known for their quality and reliability.

For a dual-channel setup, models like the VIOFO A229 Pro would be a great fit, offering 4K UHD front recording and 2K QHD rear recording, which balances high resolution with low-light performance thanks to its Sony STARVIS technology. It also has excellent parking mode features, including buffered recording and motion detection, perfect for your needs.

If you're considering a 4-channel system, the VIOFO A229 Pro can be expanded with additional cameras for side coverage, giving you comprehensive protection.

Additionally, these models come with built-in GPS for accurate timekeeping, and the high bitrate will ensure you get clear footage without compromising quality.

I looked at the VIOFO systems, and don't see any that have more than 3 channels? How do you add a 4th channel?
