How do I remove the country flag from my Avatar?

I'm pretty sure the flag was associated with my avatar because all members must choose a country when they create an account with Dashcamtalk.com.
I don't mind showing the country (which is a requirement for this site) but I would like the flag removed.
I think this website assigns the flag so a VPN would not help.

Why wouldn't a VPN help? Like i said, it's more mapped to whatever country you are in at the moment, my flag has changed from Australia where I live to Singapore.

I assumed the website assigned the flag based on the country chosen when I signed up for the account. I will give the VPN a shot and also have some other ideas.
Thanks for the suggestion

Yeah that's what I thought too til I went traveling and then my flags changed to Asian ones, arab ones etc and then I realised haha

Yes it is IP based ( played around with VPN )
Some forums will throw a tantrum if you suddenly appear from another place, i learned that the hard way.
Which to me is kinda funny CUZ people travle a lot these days, and have a constant internet access, and i assume would check a forum like they would check their damn social cancer media.

But fair warning some will not like a sudden IP change

I think here was cool using VPN, it was related to another hobby of mine

EDIT: being a Dane, not easy for this guy,,,,, actually it is damn hard for this guy CUZ i am cut in the old way, not this modern stuff.
If i see a shovel i will prefer to call it a shovel, if i have anything bad to say about the shovel i will say it too, and offer at least from my perspective constrictive criticism.

I use an VPN, not to hide but because I have to be in certain IP ranges to do some work, else I would be blocked. If I am on an VPN I generally stay on it when I come here, simply due to being to lazy to stop and start the VPN.

As for the forum, the use of flags could be hard coded in PHP or whatever, or be an installable feature set. As a general rule, flag display can be enabled or disabled in the Admin Control Panel, but, this depends if the feature is hard coded or not.

I like seeing flags as it helps me to understand the intent of the poster who may not be fluent in English. Sometimes it is easy to read something into a post that was not intended, due to written English proficiency.

The forum mandates that you identify with a country and it appears below the Avatar, so that information is available without needing the flag.
I think I somewhat solved my issue with my new avatar.

Lol calling it social cancer media , yet you have 35,000 messages yourself on this forum. That's like the pot calling the kettle black 🤣. The hypocrisy haha

VPNs are useful for a lot of things no doubt. I use it while at home and on the road when travelling (depending on country though, some I don't)

Hehe yes i am on youtube too, but all the other ones, never been there, just like i only held a apple product in my hands for 15 seconds in my entire life, and i still feel dirty +10 years later.

But i do feel one day in the future social media will be recognized as a decease

I would like to say most of my youtube videos are also private, but that’s probably not true, maybe 40 % after i wiped my old Google stuff.
One thing is for sure at leat 75% of all my comments on youtube are deleted instantly, even random lines from fairytales ASO, google sure dont like me, which is OK it is a mutual feeling.
Not afraid to admit i need help with my youtube addiction, so much so i some time wish there would be government intervention, a government that already meddle way too much in peoples life here.

At least i dont have a TV, threw that out 3 years ago, my first TV i got at the age of 45.

@jsmith Not worried at all about my location but thank you for the tip.
