How to cut video using the timeline

I'm using VSDC Editor which is a freebie that seems to have a lot of features. However, the instructions r in machine translated English. All I really want to learn is enough to post sample videos of my DCs here.

I noticed in posts of other video editors that their timeline seems similar to VSDC. Here's s screencap from a youtube tutorial
I can get the video into the editor, but am unsure bout the steps I need to take to cut segments out of a longer vid & then connect the segments.

Would appreciate any help on this....thanks

Ignore this post...I ditched this program & went to Blender. Lot's of great tuts on the video editor built w/in it.
