So a lot of people (myself included) run into issues where they can't use their dashcam apps in the car because their phone keeps connecting to WiFi. Every time they try to connect to the dashcam, the phone switches back over to WiFi yet again. This happens because CarPlay is really aggressive at trying to maintain your WiFi connection while driving, even in case of accidental disconnects, so your music keeps playing, your maps keep working, and your phone calls don't break. Luckily there a few workarounds to fix this and so I put together a quick video explaining the issue and 4 different solutions:

1) Unplug your CarPlay dongle if you're using an aftermarket CarPlay adapter.
2) Temporarily turn off Bluetooth in your phone so that your phone stops automatically reconnecting to the car via WiFi.
3) Use a dashcam that lets you adjust settings via Bluetooth and doesn't rely on WiFi.
4) Change settings via the cloud instead of directly via WiFi.

OK...I am a Luddite. ๐Ÿ™‚ My car does not have CarPlay. I take it one simply cannot turn off the infotainment center to temporarily fix this connection issue?

This only seems to happen with CarPlay unless I'm mistaken. Can't recall it happening with android auto but may be a thing.

Other in-house car entertainment systems, not an issue. This is a helpful video though as Apple is very USA-centric - it's definitely not a big an issue in other markets.

I was curious, as I do not recall an Android Auto complaint; there probably have been some, but I have just not seen them.

If people are unhappy now, wait until CarPlay Ultra is mainstream and controls the infotainment and dashboard.

No thanks lol haha but then I guess Android Automotive is supposed be the same but its been slow traction....

Useful video!
I spent a couple of days finding a solution for my Apple CarPlay.

There has been at list one complaint regarding Android Auto on this issue.
