How to fix your old in-line images that have red X?

I had bunch of threads where I referenced images I uploaded in another thread and they all started showing red x after forum upgrade.

Figured out issue with help of DCT admin @DashCamMan .
There are/were two issues.
1. Older linked images have http://forum. instead of https://forum. and proxy server messes up those links and images don't display.
That issue is fixed by DCT admin and if your inline pictures don't show up, just edit those images to make it https:// and they'll will work.

But some of the pictures were still not showing up so I checked the image location and found the issue below:

2. On really old threads (over 1 year or before forum upgrade) have different address than what the address is now.
Old link that used to work and fails in-line after forum upgrade:
http://dashcamtalk.com/forum/attachments/20140724_085229-jpg.6385/
New:
https://forum.dashcamtalk.com/attachments/20140724_085229-jpg.6385/

As you see, new address of the same old image has forum.dashcamtalk.com instead of old dashcamtalk.com/forum.
So those links needs to be updated with https:/forum. in the beginning of address and will work fine.

If you click on either link, they'll work fine but posting them inline will fail on the old link without https://forum. as shown below:
Old link:
http://dashcamtalk.com/forum/attachments/20140724_085229-jpg.6385/

New link:
https://forum.dashcamtalk.com/attachments/20140724_085229-jpg.6385/

You can also leave the /forum/ in old link as is so having forum. in the beginning and after .com/ is also okay because it'll redirect to proper new link as mentioned above.

So there you go... now go edit and fix all your inline red X images.
That should keep those with a lot of old threads busy for a while as it did for me.

I just found there are few other posts that have broken pictures' links.
It's not red X but just no pictures.




Checked the link and it has two forum word in the link that makes it invalid:

The post was fine before but now all the linked images have two forum words in all those links.

I changed it to just use one forum word and it works fine.

Looks like after every major forum upgrade, linked pictures are messed up.
