We received these battery packs a few weeks ago. IROAD managed to make a bigger battery pack.
Capacity 15Ah / 15,000mAH

Probably over next few months we will have to compile a more in depth review. But for now this is an introduction to a new battery pack

We finally have a dedicated battery for dashcams with a capacity of 15Ah or 192Wh!!
It’s about time.
Doubled capacity (compared to most batteries currently on the market) is undoubtedly a major plus.
However, to fully capitalize on this advantage, the battery must also be able to charge faster.
The 15Ah LFP battery allows a charging current of up to 15A or 1C.
This is almost twice as fast as the most batteries currently on the market.
I hope we'll find out soon.

Looking at the input ports, I am a bit puzzled - why are there two of them?
Especially considering the presence of a "Low-Off-High" switch?
Also, given such a large capacity, it would be ideal if the switch had four positions:
"Low-Off-Medium-High", corresponding, for instance, to charging currents of 5A-Off-10A-15A, or so.

Yeah its great that it is soo big. But the footprint is really not much bigger.

I know the whole low / off/ high is strange but they have done it this way for at least 5 years now. I guess you could say its there way of segregating cigar input cable and hardwire cable. I will check charging time. I do plan to put one into my vehicle to replace my 4 year old powerpack pro 12

hehe.
I have a fine bottle of Single malt ready to go when that Crimean bridge is taken down,

I want one, but the price is a killer for me. 🙁

$400 ... that can buy a lot of Scotch. 🙂
It is definitely not worth that price, a shame because similar or bigger capacity batteries for 4WD camping purposes etc are going for half or a third of that price at least. Just that you can't really purpose them for dashcams 🙁

I would think this kit from IROAD is well-made, but it is pricey. I think what bothers me about all the manufacturers is that none of them claim that the individual battery cells are IR-balanced and matched to each other. That effort to match internal resistance from cell to cell does add to manufacturing cost, but it also ensures a battery pack that is worthy of the price demanded.

I agree - it is pricey, especially if they have retained the previous model BMS and Charge Controller and consequently the same charging speed.
To be fair, the Viofo's main Battery + Extended Battery with the same 192Wh combined capacity is also adds up to around $470.

Unfortunately we do not get detailed information regarding the battery cells themselves.
Nevertheless, one can indirectly judge the quality of the cells—and how well-matched they are to one another—based on the results of the capacity test: if the battery delivers its full rated capacity, this indicates minimal cell imbalance, suggesting that the quality is likely good. (At list initially)

I had this battery pack and returned it after a few days. The charge rate on mine was super slow via the ciagrette port regardless of what the battery level was. Maybe mine was a dud. I will be interested to see the charge speeds. Only about 40-50 watts max it was taking.

cigarette lighter chgarging is like almost 2.5 to 3 hours. This is why we recommend hardwiring these battery packs

True but that charge rate was way too slow even for a ciagrette adaptor. I thought it was my car for a moment until I tested it with about 3 different power stations and the power draw was the same.

How long was it plugged in for?

About an hour driving and also about the same on the powerstations. I charge larger powersations and also the 70mai battery pack in my car and they draw about 100 watts.
You had it set to low? Not high?

Correct. That high setting didnt do anything when connected via ciagrette lighter port. I had to set it to low to start the charge. I did set it to high and left it for a few mins but it didnt start to charge.
