Is a Mobius power mad ?

Hi.

Looking to run both my mobius 24/7 as dash cams (capacitors are fitted). Power is easy as my cig sockets remain permanently live even with ign off. Question is how much power do they take? I drive my car 14 miles each way 5 days a week, so would be interested in other opinions regarding car battery drain over a 4 day period of non driving.

Car is Golf Mk7 2014 GTD

Thanks

hypothetical question, power draw of the two cameras would be similar to a 10w globe

personally I don't see the point of having the cameras running 24/7 for periods longer than the memory capacity, if anything happened early on it would be well and truly overwritten by the time you come back to it anyway so you're just wearing things out for no valid reason (you're completely entitled to do that of course, just not something I would want to do)

Running a 128gb card will give me approx. 16hr recording which would be sufficient for any events while parked during the day or overnight.

Overnight is fine and not too much of a concern for the battery, several days though not so much

Exactly my issue, I have been looking for a cig socket usb adapter with a built in voltage monitor, so it will shut off the cams if the car battery drops too low. Unfortunately no success :(

There are plenty of low battery cutoff devices that have female cig socket you plug into, just wire one of those in

I could be wrong about this, but the hard wire kit you can buy for the Mobius is meant to run until the battery drops below a certain voltage. Not sure how many hours you get from it.

  • This hard wiring kit allows you to connect any mini USB dash camera to a car battery source to achieve 24 hours uninterrupted power supply allow for car parking surveillance.

  • Protects your vehicle's battery from being drained by the dash camera.

  • Wide voltage input: 12~35V, Low-voltage protection threshold about 12V, Car <11.6V. When 24V, Car < 23.2V

  • Output voltage: DC 5V
