Is the 3M VHB Adhesive Fake?

My wife is always saying "grape ape" and "refrigerator rater"... I remember grape ape (and captain caveman) will, but only vaguely remember refrigerator rater... Can't place where it's from, and neither can she.

And I find it amusing when people insist on calling duct tape "gray tape". People like NASA. :p
 
I've been using the included gray tape since I installed it almost 4 weeks ago on my windshield and it has been rock solid.
