I'm currently using the Garmin 66W dashcam with the official hardwire kit, but I'm thinking of buying a new dashcam with a rearview camera as well as a front view one.
This might sound like a silly question, but so long as the power requirements are the same, I can continue to use my Garmin hardware kit, can't I?
I remember some reviews of the 66W saying that Garmin has a Chip ID system build in that would only enable the parking mode with the official hardwire kit, or something to that effect, so that it would automatically stop recording if your batter got too low, so that it wouldn't run it flat.
See link for Garmin's help page on this
Would this stop me from using other brands of camera, or introduce any problems that I should be aware of?
I don't actually use parking mode, so it's never been something that I've looked into.
