Issue with Dash Cam recording mode on Battery C3 on loop mode

Mike,
since you have L files, my guess is your switch is not the problem...
what kind of cards are you using?
here is another try...

take your sd card out insert into a cpu with Window Os
use SmartDisk_FAT32_tool.exe or sdformatter 4 to format the card to FAT32 (not sure if you used the mention tools)
do not use Window's native formatter..they are not very good
and try again..

since you did not mention which firmware version.. I would start fresh..
get sept version..flash
now config the unit as you wish but use no larger than 3 min clips.
when you plug into the power...C3 will autostart regardless of your current setting.

let us know .as it will take 4 hrs for 32g card to loop.

I just confirmed this issue on my C3 as well, (Shipped Dec 21) I let it run, it recorded 32 files, all nearly the same size (1,168,xxx KB.
Last file's time stamp was 8:47 PM, but when I shut it down at 9:30 PM, the LED was still blinking as if it was recording.
I'm also using a 32 GB card.
All the filenames begin with L, and it's also missing the second to last file

That means you checked camera at 9:30 PM, and found the last file recorded time is 08:47 PM, even LED is blinking, but no file recorded from 08:47 PM to 9:30 PM.
Here I have been testing on that now.

Just finished another test and here are some observations:

1 Using Lexar 32GB card - class 10
2 Camera did loop
3 Recorded 81 files over 6 1/2 hours
4 All files (except last one) are 467MB and are prefixed HT
5 All files are sequential
6 Camera was not switched off during the recording
7 Files are set at 5 minutes record time

It would seem from this test that the files only become scrambled when contantly switched on and off when in the vehicle. @RockThinking has already explained the L and HT file name mixup.

you might also see the first file - a one second file..before it continues on....
though it has mix file name etc...it does not stop the unit to record properly..of which most important to me.

the power on/off is a firmware power detection timing/jitter detection issue.

Yes, 36. Sorry.
I'll test it again tonight to verify.

Tested mine again, started at 4 PM, stopped at 10:25 PM. I disconnected it too early at 8:12, which is why L0000025.MOV is smaller than the rest.
It appears to be working now It had originally started at L0000001, but the early files have been overwritten.

@K1600C3 Thank you for the input, that helps a lot, now here we do test on 32GB sd card.

so k1600...what ave you changed to get it working?

Keep updated,
The new FW is initial released and tested on cameras today, give the feedback to FW guys for further checking.

And tested on 32GB card, it keeps recording, @K1600C3, from your last result, seems everything is fine?

Hi Rock,

Hopefully your testing of the new FW is positive, I look forward to your results, and then testing on my two C3's.

Cheers . . . Mike

Hi Rock,

Any news? What is the status of this issue?

Cheers . . . Mike

Hi Mike,

We have been testing the revised FW, below is the update,
1. the 30 minutes loop recording issue solved,
2. the continue shooting issue solved,
3. we test on file names, it has been L and HT files as we defined, but still has one HT files mixed in loop recording,

So the FW guys keep working on that.

Once it is ready, will release it anyway. :)

Good news Rock,

You mentioned 30 minutes, are they also dealing with 10 minute files in loop mode as well?

Look forward to testing once you release the F/W.

Cheers . . . Mike

Thanks @RockThinking, will your FW update also take care of the issue of the last file always being placed at the end of the previous last files, as in the example below? It's not a big deal but it still isn't right.

I use sort display by "time of creation" instead of by "name" in Win7

Ok, I do understand,

Other update, as there are people mentioned it is hard to connect to computer via USB cable,
As here I have tested many cables on windows 7 desktop computers, all can connected, the LED is solid red, but take around 20 seconds to see the driver.

We suspect the problem comes from the USB cable, we hand made usb cables, use two current usb cables wired together, there are 4 wires inside cable, now from this hand made cable, each wires now have been double.

I would like to send these two cables to people for testing, and give us the feedback.

To whom?
