it was their first time at doing their own firmware and I guess they found out it was more involved than they thought

Why gopro has not updated their hardware with digital image stabilization, or even put out a bigger gopro with "1 inch sensor"
or "micro 4/4 sensor" is strange.Or come out with a updates gopro that even does 4k and not overheats etc.

For me, stabilisation is the most important, and by now, any cam should be able to do 1080p 60fps at a good bitrate, any cheap
hardware and do that.

4k is for me a bit overrated, it looks great on DSLR, you can get great sound too but the price tag is high. And trying to get 4k
out of a tiny actioncam, a bit much to ask for.

Perhaps the builders just refuse to improve the product until competition forces them to!!

Gitups 1.4 fw's 36.7 Mbps in the 2k30 fps is probably all the data I need to work with in my Corel VSP editing program.

Haha yeah, of course, why should they. As long as they are selling their products they can relax.

That was a nice bitrate indeed.

Unfortunately for them, much more innovation and functions can be found in the Asian products, kind of sad how
much gopro has fallen behind in terms of innovation and keeping products interesting. Then there was the gopro hype
that is now over and it is more or less a matter of just staying alive and keeping the business running.

Last I heard there where rumors of new products but that was some time ago, and nothing has happened. Anyway,
it would be nice if they could just update the product line they have. Perhaps there will be a new cheaper 4k
camera sometime this year, who knows. At the moment, I prefer gitup2, great prices and has all the functions I need.
Gopro is good to, but the cameras are a bit expensive for me, plus the drawback, no digital image stabilization, that is
what kills the gopro for me.

Yeah I know what you are talking about, the problem is they do not have a fixed lens and it does not work well, otherwise
it would be a great option if you need that. It is more aimed at professional video. I prefer the fixed lens type with a sensor
and no zoom option, that way the picture can never be out of focus.

If you look at DSLR they have this problem to, different systems for focusing, face tracking and so on, but these systems can
never compete with manual focusing, or cameras that have a fixed lens. Just the way it is, all though dedicated video cameras
are much better at focus speeds etc, but they often have much smaller sensor. A trad off, sort of.

Z-Camera E1 Action Cam

If they had that with a fixed lens, would be nice.
