This dash cam came fitted in an MG4 which we have just bought from an Ancaster dealer (ex-demo). The unit is connected using the hardwire kit, but is not powering up. I have tried pressing the reset button for 10-15 seconds, then pressing the power button for 2-3 seconds, but it will not power up. The unit was not supplied with a cigarette lighter adapter, but I would like to unmount it and test it with an alternative 5V USB-C power supply.
Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the cam from the mount without removing the mount from the windscreen? (it's a ball joint). If so, how can this be done?
If anyone has any ideas re. why it is not powering up then I would also be grateful if you could share them. Since the dash cam was not officially part of the sale contract for the car I do not have any recourse with the dealer who sold it.
