I know DOD say don't use SanDisk SD Cards. But has one of the high endurance cards which are designed for DashCam and CCTV been tried?

This is the card i'm referring to and they work perfectly in my Blackvue DR650GW- 2CH

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/B00V5Q1N1I
Specs are:

  • Stands up to 10,000 hours of Full HD video recording (64 GB)
  • Up to 5,000 hours of Full HD video recording (32 GB)
  • Built for and tested in harsh conditions. Temperature proof, shock proof, water proof
  • Ideal for dashboard cameras and home video monitoring
  • Class 10 for Full HD video (1080p) recording and playback. 2 year warranty
Speed is 20MB/S (About 10x the rate the LS470w+ writes at circa 16Mb/s or 2-3MB/s) so will easily cope with the data thrown at it. I use one as said in my BlackVue and also in my GoPro 4 Black.

I can't speak for DOD but when we recommend/don't recommend cards we err on the side of caution,
there are some models of Sandisk cards that are more prone to errors than others (I think they have more than 8 different series right now?)
The high endurance has worked well for a lot of our customers and I don't see why the LS470 would have issues with it
As long as you review your footage and format your card every couple weeks you shouldn't have any problems

A question i have. I have just bought this NextBase hardwire kit. The output is 5v 2a

Will this be ok to hardwire the LS470W+? The supplied car charger is 5v 1.5a output. My gut feeling is yes but wondered if anyone knew for sure.

Thanks
Not sure have you ordered this yet, but its not a direct fit, the Dod uses a micro USB, whilst that is a mini USB, you will need an adapter for it,

Thanks. But I just chopped the end off the cable and used a micro usb cable and joined the two.

Been working spot on for the past week. :)

So this thread has been pretty quiet for a new product. Any users out there care to share their thoughts on the new DOD line? I've seen some nice videos out there but few user comments.

Does anyone know of a better mount for these? Even the fixed windscreen mount still allows the camera to wobble and shake no matter how tight I do it up.

The ball joint arm is a pretty weak design in comparison to my Blackvue DR650GW-2CH. At least that gets held steady even if the bitrate isn't as good.

I was looking at this as I think it will provide less movement (still not perfect). Does anyone know if this would fit the LS470W+?

I wonder if some foam in the female part of the camera will help give it a tighter fit. I'm having a similar issue with the SG in my other car.

It's not the joint to the camera. It's the ball joint that is the issue I think.
