Do you prefer the microphone on your dash cam on or, off? Is there a reason for your choice?

audio could be a good evidence as well especially if you have no video - if someone gets to your car from a side. or you catch an audio (evidence) first and then a video.

There are a number of benefits of having the audio left on, one big one is having the ability to audibly read out a license plate number. So if you're in a hit & run or similar type of event, its a really good idea to read out the plate of a fleeing vehicle because your cam will not always be able to pick up the plate number. But if you read it out-loud, you'll be able to hear it on playback.

Some Municipalities do not allow voice recording, check your local laws. This is stupid I know but it is what it is!

I kept mine OFF. My preference.

My mic is always on, for security reasons

How much does having the mike on add to the file size?
