I just unpacked our first Git2 cam, and was a bit surprised to see a mini USB port - is there a specific reason for this? It is not a problem per se, but all our other USB cables are micro USB, which seems to be the defacto standard πŸ™‚

Cheers,

Bernhard

Mini USB has more pins, so can support video out, mono external microphones, stereo external microphones etc.

Plus it makes it compatible with the GoPro Hero 3 and 4 which is very useful when fitted to an aircraft with a gimbal stabiliser already wired for a GoPro to receive power and transmit video back to the remote control.

Welcome πŸ™‚

Thank you for the explanation, Nigel, much appreciated - I was just wondering πŸ™‚

Other than the pin count i think its said that a micro USB is more durable in regard to how many times you can plug it in and unplug it before it brakes

Seems to be some argument about that, although the micro does tend to wear the plug out rather than the socket so is a lot easier to replace, and also micro USB has the advantage that if the cable is pulled hard sideways then the plug will bend and pull out instead of breaking the internal PCB.
