Something i wanted right from the get go when using a car cam was motion detect AFTER power off, well the latest firmware update 2.37 now supports this, so if your mobius is powered by the car and you switch the power off or the power gets cut to the mobius by ignition off, mobius continues to work with motion detect until battery flat, i dont use a super cap so in my view this will help the battery by discharging until flat, how it works with super cap users i am unsure, i guess a supercap retains some power for a short time then flats which means this setting is no good to supercap users ??

I have read however that motion detect is a bit hit and miss... anyone have any experience on the three values that can shed some light on the best setting for motion detect ?

Hi,
I begun using it but having an issue with it.

Well I arrived to work, turned the switch off and the Mobius entered to MD mode, 2-3 hours later battery flat. Then I returned to car, switched on and drove home.

Then I connect the camera to my PC and found out that the whole driving home period the camera stayed with the MD mode. it means that if I stood in traffic jam, and nothing happened for 5sec, the camera stopped recording and begun again when I moved.
It cause lots of small clips instead of the 10min clips I adjusted it to.

Seems to me like a bug..

Any ideas?

No motion, goes off, logical. Need MD off for normal driving, but of course not easy to change quickly.

I might have motion detect. Whenever I remove the unit from the bracket and I bring it in the office. I leave it in my desk drawer until the end of day when I put it in my pant pocket. When I take it out of my pant pocket the unit red light is flashing. So I am thinking it had motion detect.

Correct, what I'm expecting(and also logical) is that when the power comes back to the camera it will turn again to Mode 1(and won't stay on MD mode).

This is how the parameter should work. Before the firmware was released I tested the functionality pretty thoroughly using different settings and found the firmware to work as expected. I did not, however, test what happens when the battery becomes flat. This may be your problem. If it is, then it's partially my fault because I didn't catch it ;). I'll have to check it out when I have a spare moment - which is very rare at present.

@Gilbates This parameter cannot be used with a supercap. A supercap can only store enough energy to save the current clip and turn the camera off. It does not have enough energy to enable the camera to record, not even for a second or two.

Can somebody point me, please, to that spot in the GUI where I can change settings to enable MD after power goes off?

Thanks

Thanks guys. Will have to update and test it.

I did a couple of motion detect after power disconnect tests over the past few days.

On the three occasions that I let the Mobius battery run flat, loop recording resumed when I started my vehicle.

I don't see anything related to Motion Detect under the Basic Settings tab. (See the image I posted)

Do you have the latest firmware installed?

It only shows after the firmware update, and it's under the power off disconnect section.

Very odd indeed.

2.37 is what I am using.
