My GS1000 arrived but one problem

I bought a GS1000 with firmware VERSION V2.0.8 G2KB A .It has the blue menu. I have a couple of questions:
1. It is the new or the old blue menu?
2.I have to update to a newer version or it is ok?
3. I have a problem with automatic recording when connected to the car socket. When i start the engine the cam starts up and ask me what to do: MSC,CHARGE or OPEN. And it does not automatically start to record. I read here on this nice forum that the problem is the cable but there was a usb cable, and the cable which comes from the lighter socket from the car to the camera is not an usb.. or it is? What I have to do in order to automatically starts recording when engine starts?

if it's working, leave it alone, the wrong firmware could leave you with nothing very easily

it should record when powered from the car charger, you are using the supplied car charger? wasn't clear to me from your description

some models do have a menu setting to choose how to behave when connected by USB, if you have this option in the menu then check your settings
