I work in NYC and recently purchased the venture N5 with their hardwire kit. What is the best setting for the busy NYC streets for the parking mode, so it doesn't kill my battery and take up a lot of space in my SD card?

Hi @dnaemit - welcome to DashCamTalk! Lots of great people with tons of knowledge around here!

The hardwire kits have various settings available, depending on which one you have. The lower setting one each on is designed to provide the longest amount of record time power to your camera and still allow you to start your car the next time around. How reliably your car starts after the camera shuts down at the low voltage protection level is going to vary according to what model car you have and how old your car battery is. If you are a little nervous about how well this function will work, set it to the second lowest setting.

As far as consuming space on your SD card goes, lower resolutions will conserve space, but may compromise your ability to capture the license plate of a car that hits your car while parked. Generally, I would advocate for always using the highest available resolution and buying a memory card that suits your needs. Cards are relatively cheap, but you need one intended for continuous video recording. It's easiest to follow the manufacturer's recommendations and pick up their branded SD card. I just purchased a Vantrue 512G card for $85 on amazon.

As for night time images, I posted a few from a recent trip to the ballet at Lincoln Center with my daughter. You can see them here.
