Hi all,
After a loooooong while of using a Street Guardian SGGCX2PRO, I decided to change my car and sold the old one with the dashcam on it, so I am in the market for a new one.
I understand things have changed significantly since I bought the Street Guardian several years ago, and now there are so many options that I am confused as to what is what.
What I am looking for:
Ideally, I would prefer something that won't require me to get a loan to buy it...
With a quick search, I found the VIOFO A229 Plus, but I'm not sure this is the best choice.

I understand things have changed significantly since I bought the Street Guardian several years ago, and now there are so many options that I am confused as to what is what.
What I am looking for:
- 2k minimum on the front camera, whatever (1080p and up) on the back camera
- Must be able to read license plates
- microSD recording (no SSD required)
- Capacitor
- Highest reliability possible (the Street Guardian SGGCX2PRO has been working consistently, with no issues at all, no lost files, no restarts, no lost footage, no overheating)
- Must be able to be hardwired (I think all can)
- Resistance to high temperatures. I am not in a very hot country (south UK), but we do get the occasional 35 degrees C (95F) in some summer days
- Ideally the GPS should be inside the camera itself, instead of an external unit like it was in the Street Guardian SGGCX2PRO
