Wonder if anyone will take a gamble on qualcomm chips in a dashcam, their latest releases seem capable enough.

Maybe use some of that AI and compute power for things like ANPR or plate grabbing on the fly so you don't have to sit during post and spot plates.

Have seen a camera based on their chipset previously but it was an earlier version, it never made it to mass production though so not sure how well it may have worked or if it would have been any indication of what newer chipset versions might offer

Yeah i don't know, maybe these are still pretty photo-centric though i do think some phones now also do 4K/60.
And also have no idea what kind of support you would get from qualcomm if you decided to build on their product.

It do seem like at least on phones, there are some camera apps that clearly do better than other camera apps, so there must be some way of tuning the properties even by mere mortals.
