New VIOFO Battery APP Has Remote Shutoff

So my VIOFO Battery App updated today (iPhone) and I noticed that they added the option to power down the battery from the app. Am I missing something or did they just give anyone close to your car with the the VIOFO Battery App the ability to power off your dashcam?

Your concern is the same as mine when I posted about that feature showing up in the Android version of the VIOFO battery app.

There's an update available for the VIOFO Battery app for Android devices [v1.3]. It adds a couple of features. After updating to this app version, I was prompted to update the firmware in the BP100 as well.

I would like to see some sort of password protection added to the app/battery pack firmware. Since anyone with this app can connect to your BP100, that allows them using this new feature to power it off and shutdown your dash cameras.

This is a useful feature to have. Sounds like it would be a relatively easy fix to add a password to the pairing process to prevent random passers by from disabling the battery…

Buenos dias ,soy nuevo por este foro.

Aunque tengo desde hace 1 año aprox una A329 y precisamente acabo de adquirir la bateria Viofo BP1OO.

Yo soy de los que son muy frikis con el tema de consumos de bateria ,etc...

Veo que como dice el compañero, la app de la bateria permite apagar la bateria y grabacion de manera remota,lo cual es muy interesante.

Pero mi caso por ejemplo quiero instalar la bateria BP100 en el cajon donde iba originalmente el modulo discovermedia de grupo vag dentro de un cajon con tapa dentro de la guantera.
El problema surge que para apagar no hay problema de manera remota,pero si existe el problema para manetener apagada la bateria de manera manual ya que de manera prederterminada se enciende cuando das contacto ,por si estoy con el contacto dado pero sin arrancar el motor por que puedo estar configurando cosas .

La bateria bp100 empezaria a cargar y grabar teniendo que entrar en la app para volverla a apagar es algo tedioso.

En futuras catualizaciones de la bateria no podrian incorporar la funcion de modo sueño o hibernacion en la cual la carga de la bateria se interrunpiese y tambien la grabacion ,pero el modulo bluetooth fuese lo unico activo para poder activar de nuevo la carga y funcionamiento de la camara y bateria,esto redujiria significativamente el consumo residual de la bateria del propio vehiculo al no entrar en el modo carga apenas das contacto sin arrancar el motor y ahorraria el paso de meterte en la app para apagar la bateria y dashcam.

Una opcion alternativa seria ponerle un interruptor de corte al cable de masa principal y despues apagar desde la app,asi dejando el cable de masa con el interruptor en OFF la bateria no se activaria al dar contacto ni tampoco el funcionamiento de la dashcam,la pero esto ya supone algo mas invasivo y hacer mas pasos para.

Espero se entienda lo que quiero exponer.

Nice, I just seen the OTA update for a firmware update this morning. Is there a place to see the change log for the update like the changes and what was added in this firmware update?

I installed the new battery firmware (V32) and beta iPhone app. They protect against someone else powering off your battery and dashcam by only allowing one device to bind and control your BP100. My newly installed beta app complained that my battery was already bound elsewhere (to my original app?) and told me to press the BP100 power button 5 times to reset the connection association, which I did. There's a new Settings screen with firmware version and bound phone, a power on/off buzzer sound preference, and Unbind Device option.

Oops, maybe I spoke too soon. My BP100 isn't charging anymore when I'm driving, even though it's only 1%-3%. I'll file a support ticket with Viofo next.

Yo actualice ayer el firmware pero no me fije en la carga .
Espero que no haya provocado ese bug ,ya que de ser asi deberian de dar prioridad total a solucionarlo rápidamente por que inutiliza la bateria.
Si esto esta ocurriendo realmente no entiendo que saquen un firmware sin probar algo tan básico como la carga de la bateria.
Por otro lado yo me instale la app en una radio Android para poder apagar la batería directamente desde la radio sin necesidad de usar el telefono y entiendo que la app esta optimizada para pantallas de telefono , pero podrian pensar en optimizarlo tambien para radios android , ya que en mi radio android me salen las letras y el gráfico de carga enorme, siendo me imposible ver y usar la mayoria de la interfaz de la app .

Actualizo con nuevas pruebas.

Aunque mi bateria esta cargada al 100% cuando esta sin dar girar contacto la llave , me pone "bateria descargando" y cuando doi contacto me pone "carga detenida".....entiendo que al estar al 100% por eso pone carga detenida, con lo cual falta de verificar que cargue ,veo correcto el funcionamiento y no debería de tener problema para cargar en cuanto baje el % de carga .


Por otro lado he llegado a la conclusión que el emparejamiento con 1 dispositivo exclusivamente esta implementado de una manera mala .

Ya quede probado a volver a la versión anterior de la App ,la que esta actualmente en playstore y con esa version da igual si lo tienes vinculado a otro dispositivo ya que se conecta a esa versión sin problema ni impedirlo aunque este vinculado a otro dispositivo.

Con lo cual el posible ladrón para eludir este sistema de seguridad de emparejamiento solo tiene que conservar esta version anterior de la app sin actualizar.

Pues efectivamente, tal y como ha reportado el compañero despues de actualizar el firmware con la actualización que usted proporciono , la bateria ha dejado de cargar y aun estando el contacto del vehiculo, la app de la bateria pone carga detenida .

Me parece increíble que proporcionen una actualizacion de firmware con tan grave fallo que inutiliza la bateria.

Espero que den total prioridad a este fallo y proporcionen lo antes posible un firmware que solucione este problema.

Añado una foto de la app donde muestra que esta recibiendo energia estando al 93% y aun asi esta la carga parada , cosa que nunca antes me habia pasado , siempre la mantuve al 100% de carga.

Glad you found the issue and can fix it with another OTA update. My beta battery app hasn’t announced a new fw yet to replace V32. How long should we wait or is there a way to force the app to check for new fw?

Acabo de actualizar via OTA y parece que ya esta solucionado el bug , ya carga la bateria .

Aunque no se por que en la información de entrada de corriente sin arrancar el motor me marca entrada de electricidad 10.8v ,siendo realmente 11,9v y en ese estado alterna cargando y carga parada ,fluctuando ese dato de entrada de electricidad entre 10,8v cargando y 11,9v carga parada , siendo realmente siempre unos 12v aprox ...

Si es verdad que con motor arrancado siempre se mantiene cargando si lo necesita la bateria y en este estafo lo veo un funcionamiento normal .

Update from Viofo support - My battery is down to 1% so won't OTA update, and it's not charging so I can't get it up to the minimum 10%. They're looking for solutions. Ugh.
