Hi all

I'm currently experiencing problem where my rear camera isn't working when connected to the man 422GW – on the main camera screen I only get a transparent frame where the rear camera feed should be, and recordings stop after around 9 seconds. However, if I disconnect the rear camera from the main unit, the front camera works normally.

As the rear camera cable is hidden behind the trim in my vehicle, I'm keen to avoid replacing it unless necessary. Has anyone had this issue and replaced the rear cam cable or rear cam or both? i dont think the from cam is faulty as i tested on 422gw and 522- i have the same issue.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. My rear camera is around 7 years old, so it's unfortunately out of warranty.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I had six years with no problems at all. Then last week my Nextbase 422GW started making a continuous alarm noise on engine startup. It was recording video normally for the first minute, but at 1:01 the recording stopped and the screen froze. Same thing happened after a hard reset and reformatting of the SD card. Bought a new U3 Nextbase SD card - but made no difference.

It appears that very hot weather can slow down the speed at which the data is written to the SD card. It appears that the system tried to write the first minute of video but could not complete the task in the time available (?) so the software crashed and the screen froze.

The solution was to disable saving of dual files (ie both the high and low resolution versions) so that only one video is stored every minute. Also I reduced the resolution and FPS of the saved video to further reduce the amount of data being written. Seems to all work okay again now. Also I made a sun shade out of cardboard and taped it to the underside of the windscreen above the dashcam.

Perhaps having a second dash cam could be overloading the data writing capacity (more data to store each time)? Another point to note is that 32GB SD cards should be formatted as FAT32 while 64GB and larger should be formatted as exFAT. Also make sure you have the latest version of the firmware (R30.9).
