Nextbase iQ 4K
I’ve tried for several hours, over 2 sessions, to install a new Nextbase iQ 4K, without success. It has power from the OBD port and I’ve tried with the device several yards from my wifi to as little 6 inches away. Upon power up, signal strength registers as “no signal” then goes to either weak or medium signal, and occasionally strong signal. The only icon that has shown is the spinning arrows (Device On-boarding Mode). Customer support suggested I invert the antennas but that didn’t work. Any ideas?

I don't have this device but was wondering if you are getting interference from the car.

Is it possible to set this system up on the bench e.g. away from the car just to prove it does work?

The car isn't on when I first plug in the device to the OBD port. It powers up then goes into an endless cycle of Device On-boarding. I also tried with the car running but got the same result.

Sounds like the OBD port isn't the ideal power source

Just to recap
Originally you couldn't get wifi to work.
Now you are saying that the dashcam is cycling reboots

If the dashcam wont start up correctly then I wouldn't expect the wifi to be working.

Have you tried to run it out of the car like I suggested?

If possible don't use the OBD while testing.

I had a similar issue, although my IQ had been installed for sometime. My issue came about when they rolled out the firmware update that actually made the WiFi active. This started a number of new faults on my IQ, including multiple boot up issues. I took a video of the issues and also a number of screen recording. Eventually the device was returned to Nextbase who later informed me it was a faulty 4G/WiFi module. Have to talked the issue through with nextbase?

Hello Lima,

Same thing on my side. Just got my Nextbase IQ 4k dashcam and the only icon that is shown constantly is the spinning arrows (Device On-boarding Mode). I tried formatting the card, change the card, reversing the antennas, re-booting and nothing worked. Tried to ask for help through the chat on the official Nextbase website but nobody is available. Tried to call the number from the Nextbase app but got the message “we are unable to take the call due to the technical difficulties we are experiencing”. I’ve opened the ticket and lets see what happens. This is really frustrating…

Have you found the solution in the meanwhile?

Thank you. I will continue to reach out to them, as it seems they might not be operating due to the holidays, despite what their website indicates. It would be beneficial if their guide included a note mentioning that a phone call may be necessary to activate the SIM card for proper camera setup.

Stephen93 have you tried connecting via 4G, I connected mine via Wi-Fi originally but could not show any videos in the library, it was only once it connected via 4G that they became available. I can connect Wi-Fi whilst sat in the house due to a mesh system (Eero) but had to be sat in the car for the Bluetooth/4G connection

Suggest you take the car to where u know you get a good 4G signal, (Take a mug of tea with you) once there, if the orange arrows of death keep a rolling, phone nextbase. They can view the status of the camera and tell you if the there's a problem with the Sim or the device itself. They only found out i had a problem with the devices Wifi/4G card after the update that initially turn the WiFi functionality on.

OK this is out of control, I went through Vantrue Viofi and said screw it and got the IQ and this is what is happening. All Im trying to do is replace my old owlcam.
