well it looks like the problem with the 0523 firmware was that having the g-sensor turned on caused it to eventually think the card was full and stop recording, even though there were no locked files. i haven't had any issues with the camera since i turned off the g-sensor.

i haven't tried the newest firmware that someone just posted, since this seems to be working ok now. if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? i'll try the new fw if it has new features, such as maybe adding the license plate/custom text to the timestamp in the videos, or maybe an audio notch filter to block that high pitched noise...
