If the AV software is preventing the application from running you can tell it to allow the viewer to run. If it won't install you can disable the AV when installing.
 
Hi Al its beginning to get very frustrating my antivirus immediately blocks the viewer download and says it contains a virus thats as far as it gets the viewer download heading changes to red and doesnt respond when you click on it when I try to download the firmware update it says this type of file is not supported but the previous viewer and AC19 had downloaded straight away using the same download program I cant even open it to change settings to allow.......how are things in CT regards ipol

Why have you NOT paused Anti-virus so you download the FW and SW 😱
some AV detect methods used by VIRUS's in GODD software and throw a false positive
 
@ Gigitt yes that is my next step I will do it on the other PC first just in case things go wrong strange things happening on the PC at the moment both the Email addresses I have for Lukas are coming back failed delivery now I emailed them yesterday and had a reply on my PC with the 2 files as attachments the AV is not blocking the firmware update the PC just says it does not recognise the file type.... bizarre it recognised the previous version last month My lovely lady has a doctors appointment in a while so it will have to wait till we get back. Thanks anyway.... Ipol
 
well the viewer seems to have updated from version 1.7.2 to the version 1.7.3 but i am still having no luck downloading the firmware AC21 have been trying for about three hours now since getting back from town giving up for the evening will try again tomorrow at this rate I will need a visit to the doctors. :mrgreen:

What exactly happens when you know your download fails? It's rather strange that you are able to get the viewer but not the firmware.
 
Hi Al when I get as far as open to download the file a message appears adobe reader cannot open this file it is either not recognised or may have been corrupted in transmission or has missing codec information I have a neighbour who is a PC expert I might have to take it up to him if all else fails thanks for the concern though... Ipol
 
FW is not a pdf so why is adobe reader trying to open zip file!!!

sounds lke you need to flush your browser history and cache.
 
HI Gigitt I have obviously done something wrong I am not sure why it takes me there each time I delete my history 2 to 3 times a week Unfortunately my PC neighbour is working away from home at the moment so wont be back till the weekend.I downloaded 7zip this morning but havent had time to play with it yet we went to a birthday celebration this afternoon. Just going to have a play with it in a few minutes.I do have a friend in the Ukraine who can get into my PC via team viewer but he is in the process of moving house I dont think his wife would appreciate me disturbing him at this moment in time 🙂 Ipol
 
It seems like the Lukas site is up now but there have been problems over the last little while. If you can't access the firmware and viewer from their site you can download it here.

I don't think you actually downloaded the file you need. Have you looked in the download folder? Do you see the viewer there? You said you were able to finally install it so it must be there. You don't have to get outside help. You can get all the help you need here and I for one would be happy to get this issue solved with you. At the Lukas site you have the option to download several files. Go here and let me know what happens when you try to download the firmware file.

You should see a message at the bottom of the screen that asks you if you want to open or save. Save it and go to the download folder and watch it. Follow the instructions. You will get a message allowing you to open the folder where the firmware sits. Let me know if any of these instructions fail.

Hi all thanks for the support I will try your suggestions in the morning its almost time for bed here and its been one frustrating time yes the viewer updated then I re-installed Avast and around 8pm this evening it did a scheduled scan and threw all its toys out of the pram and the newly installed viewer out of the window I reset the PC to around 4pm yesterday and re-installed Lukas ace and the japanese version viewer it downloaded straight away the few times i tried to install the english version before trying the japanese version avast continued to block the english version. I will follow your advice and follow your links to try to get the english version installed .....how I managed to download the japanese version is a miracle my grasp of the language is NUL hope the rest of your day goes well catch you all tomorrow Ipol

FWIW: I used to be a huge long time AVG then Avast fan - but it has gotten way tooo big of a resource hog for my liking.
Surfing around the geeky forums I read many people are also of the same opinion, AVAST and other FREE AV doing tooo much and slowing down the computer - also too many false positives! and are now running just the Microsoft Security Essentials - and it too is free.
I have been running it now for 1 year with no issues or violations.

Do your own research before you switch.

As I said in another thread (about Lukas Web Site is Down)
I could not get the FW or Viewer at all as I could not connect to the Web Site.
Even most Anonymous Proxy servers were having issues connecting to LukasHD.com
So I downloaded TOR Web Bundle - Connected fine downloaded 1st try - no an issue.
Maybe give that a go.

Basically TOR is a community based public anonymous proxy network. By starting the TOR network application and using the TOR browser (a copy of Firefox Portable Edition) it is a self contained application able to be run from the extracted folder anywhere on your Hard drive or taken with you on a USB sick, you can get to any page on the internet, eg I'm having routing issues from Australia to Taiwan directly, and using TOR it now bounces my connection around the internet a few times so my connection comes from not within Australia that is having a routing network issue - and it worked for me.
 
Hi to one and all well i have tried several suggested routes to no avail I think i will take latest advice and kick off Avast I installed winzip this morning the firmware appears in the winzip folder but when I tap the unzip button nothing happens just installing microsoft security essentials will let you know how i get on. Ipol
 
Avast is history.... M S Essentials up and running I had to delete Lucas and win zip to start again latest viewer ENGLISH version installed..... what Zip file program do you recommend to enable me to download and open AC21 firmware looks like there might be a light at the end of the tunnel....... Ipol and many thanks to all for the guidance 😀
