Hi guys

Can anyone please explain why the image is quite dark at certain points of the footage? As you can see in the video attached, everything looks pretty dark at the beginning but as you go through the footage it gets back to normal.

This also happens during the mid-day towards the afternoon when the sun is still out but hidden by the clouds.

Viofo A129 Pro Duo with CPL filter on the front unit. For the SD card, I use SanDisk MAX ENDURANCE Video Monitoring for Dashcams 60,000 hours 128 GB

Welcome to the forum. Davie
Your camera are aimed a bit high, there should be a 50/50 split of sky and ground at the horizon, it is probably the light metering that get tripped up

Yes, adjust the angle so that the horizontal is in the centre.

Also check that the EV setting is at zero.

Hi @kamkar
Are you saying that I should reposition the dashcam or just tilt it?

Hi @Nigel
The EV setting is set at zero!

Changing the exposure when changing the shooting angle

Main thing is to have the road and what is on it appear as good as it can in the footage, if clouds are a bit blown out that dont matter as few of us are getting into alterations with airplanes, also few of us will probably ever get the same recordings as some Russians did with that Meteor some years ago.
