Background, I have tried;
G1WH - was happy with video quality and size. Did not loop automatically and even for the low price the build quality was laughable. Lasted about a month and stopped working.
Garmin G20 - build quality appeared to be excellent and it seemed like it could take some abuse. Additionally being able to buy from major American retailer and warranty. Returned within a month because the video quality was so below acceptable it was as though it was a secondary feature and not the whole point of the device.
GoPro Hero 3 - picture great, build quality great, car mount great, can be used outside of car. Negatives; it is impossible to hide and has to be taken down, has to be manually started, no crash sensor and will record over (although the battery likely to drain quicker than a decent sized card would be looped over), changing battery is another manual task.
So I am looking for;
- Good day and night video quality
- Something with a reputable domestic distributor
- Warranty
- Decent build quality
- Where software or hardware glitches are updated
- Budget up to around $200
