haven't tested my GS1000 yet, but I have so called "dome camera" and I left it on for 2 days and 16 hours; it makes 30-minute videos, size 640x480, I don't know how many Mbps.
The biggest file was 276MB; it was recording things and people in a living room at a normal day light. The smallest file was 42MB and it was recording a white wall in the night time, IR LEDs on. All together, it took 11,7GB for 65 hours.
I guess it takes various amount of memory, depends on what you're recording, so the calculator gives purely mathematical result, which in reality can or cannot be true ?

The recording calculator is based on average bit rates which will not be exact when a camera has a variable bit rate. For many dash cams, the bit rate range is relatively constant so the calculator is a good rule of thumb. Many surveillance camera have a variable bit rate that changes dramatically. Hence, it is less useful. I'll update that page with more info as well.
