The RedTiger ViewClear 70 is a feature-packed dual dash camera that can record both the front view and back view of your vehicle simultaneously. The front camera can record at up to 4k resolution with a Sony Starvis 2 sensor and the rear camera can record at up to 2k resolution. The ViewClear 70 also has dual HDR, GPS, Super Night Vision, and 5.8GHz Wi-Fi 6. The camera also sports a 3” touch screen with voice control. Navigation buttons are also on the bottom of the camera. The camera menu can be navigated via the touch screen or with the physical buttons. The front camera can be adjusted (tilted) at the mounting point and the lens itself can pivot. RedTiger also has a smartphone application that can be installed to manage camera settings as well as view and download video clips.

Installation:

Installation is very simple. RedTiger includes everything needed to install the camera. The wire for the rear camera was long enough with wire to spare to install in my Subaru Ascent. First decide where to best mount the camera so that it doesn’t obstruct your view or interfere with the EyeSight cameras. Utilize the electrostatic film and mount the camera to the film. I would recommend ordering their hard-wire kit so that you can utilize parking mode (At the time of writing this review, RedTiger is throwing the hardwire kit for free if purchasing from their website). Pull back the A-Pillar trim and tuck the power cable behind the airbag. If you don’t want to hardwire, RedTiger also supplies a 9v power adapter.

Night time Drive Test:

I was very impressed with the night time image quality. Even in a dimly lit area with minimal street lighting, the image was very clear and you can even see the license plate of the vehicle in front of me if zoomed in a little. At the bottom of the video it includes the date and time stamp, camera information, and GPS information.

One weird thing that I experienced was that the screen didn’t seem to turn off. I set the screensaver time to 1 minute, but for some reason the screen was always on. I assume this is a bug that will hopefully be fixed in a future firmware update.

Summary and Opportunity for Improvement:

Overall, I am happy with the camera. It has good build quality and feels solid. RedTiger includes everything that you need to get up and running. The camera has great image quality and is packed with features. I am also glad that it includes a more updated WiFi version so that videos download to your phone quicker. Also, with the Super Night Vision, the front camera captures great quality video at night. At the suggested price point this camera is right up there with some pretty heavy hitters in the dash cam market such as Viofo. I do tend to prefer the wedged shaped cameras over the shape of the RedTiger camera as they are a little easier to be mounted so they are a little less noticeable. With that being said, there are some opportunities for improvement.

The design of the rear camera makes it a little difficult to get it angled exactly where you want it. The camera can be rotated 360 degrees, but the usb-c port also moves in the direction of rotation. The housing for the camera lens is also about the same height as the mounting point of the adhesive, so the protrusion of the housing that contains the camera lens may rub against your glass if the camera is mounted onto the rear window.

I would also like to see more customization settings available in the menu. For example, I have dark tints on my rear hatch window and wish that the exposure and other image settings were able to be adjusted. Because my tint is dark and I am not able to adjust the exposure, the image from the rear camera is very dark at night. RedTiger should benchmark Viofo. Viofo has a plethora of customization settings such as exposure, loop recording image timing, inverting the image, multiple parking mode options, etc.
