SD Card problems with Nextbase 212

@Mister_B - It worked for a while before dying in the 212. I subsequently returned the 212 for a refund and bought another 412GW.

Despite the problems I had with the Nexrbase 212, I still swear by the Nextabase products and the aftersales service offered by Nextbase is outstandingly brilliant.

A big thank you to Tiffany and the team is in order.
 
Isn't that the case, support is way ahead.

That's why I'm waiting for the new range.
 
I think we may be waiting a while for new models to come out... I wonder what they will name the dashcam range this time for eg it went from 402g to 412gw... perhaps 420g ā€ā™‚ļø

I have a nextbase 212 as well
I have a 128Gb SD card
After a near miss two days ago, I wanted to copy the video files
however only the folder and files from today were readable
the other folders were all corrupted names and the file names inside the folder were also corrupted
I have now reformatted the card and I am testing it by copy over 102Gb of photo from my pc to the sd card to see if they all load ok
I have used this camera f0or several years and have copied files from it before, especially when someone drove through a no entry sign and into the front of my car at the time, lucklily the winch bumber and winch meant my car wasn't damaged at all but their front grille and bonnet did get damaged. I showed the video to the police, also I was stationary at the time too so it was ruled not my fault
I will post card details as soon as the copy has finished

Welcome to the forum Lr101FC,,,, BTW i do know what your NIC hint at,,,,,, i never ridden a 101FC only seen them, but others LR sure had a LR addicted M8.

A memory card do not last forever, but they do tend to go into read only mode, you for sure rarely able to write to a broken memory card.
But if all previous files are corrupted that do sound strange, i could understand last files in a drive session maybe getting corrupted due to lack or power ( from build in battery or capacitor being bad ) as it shout down.

I can not recall the year of this model, but in the old days cameras would not at all warn you of any errors, they would even sit there with a flashing LED ( red dot on screen ) and you would assume you was recording, but you was not due to some error.
Modern systems will warn if there are problems writing to the memory card ASO

Another good example of how important it still is to check up on your recordings now and then, even with a modern system i would do so, it take me about 10 minutes looking over a 256GB memory card on the computer with the card in a card reader ( fast card reader i can playback directly from )
 
As a test, I have been writing files from my pc to the sd card
I had previously formatted the sd-card in my nextbase 212 and did not format it again when it put it into the computer
It looks like that the files are also being corrupted when written to the flash card by the pc
so far I am up to 45Gb used of the 128Gb on the flash card

when looking through the folders now on the sd card - some are readable, with clear names copied from the pc with files in the folder I can still open
however the majority now look like the screen shot below and the computer cannot open any of them - reports incorrect format

this is the card - the poor quality of the printing on the front of the card is my phone camera not the actual print quality on the card

Also checked the nextbase website, the firmware I was running was version R13 just upgraded to R28 as well
 
The last time I saw those hieroglyphics was indeed a fake SDCard where the device was trying to write to an area that didn't exist but the fake SDCard header info said it did
