SD corruption

I pulled out the SD card from a Thinkware Dash Cam F70 while it was on.
The files show 80 mb each . How do I retrieve the video. The Thinkware player will not show the videos.

Hi Joe,

If the PC/MAC viewer is unable to play the video, please try using another media player such as VLC Media Player.

Please be advised that pulling out the MicroSD card while the dash cam is on, it might damage the MicroSD card and resulted to corrupt

Thanks for responding.
I did try VLC media player , no luck.
To check to see if the SD card was damaged, I put it back in the camera and drove for a few minutes. I was able to produce four , one minute videos, that are viewable.

Are those new files viewable with VLC and the Thinkware viewer? It looks like you want to view specific files but can't. Is that the issue?

Yes, the four new files are viewable on both, VLC and the Thinkware viewers. And yes, I am not able to view the previous files that were on the SD card before I pulled the SD card while dashcam was on.

Okay, that is what I thought. The files are likely corrupted because they were improperly closed or for some other reason. If you can copy the files from the SD to your PC / Mac, that is a good start. You will need to find a way
to recover the files either from the microSDXC or, if they can be copied to your PC, recover the files from there.

I have not used this tool; it is free, and if you can drag and drop the file into the window, it will try to recover it. Sometimes all a file needs is to be properly closed, and then it is usable again.

It seems the problem is not the SD card or the dashcam, but these specific files are corrupted due to the SD card being removed from the dashcam while powered.

Yes, the four new files are viewable on both, VLC and the Thinkware viewers. And yes, I am not able to view the previousfiles that were on the SD card before I pulled the SD card while dashcam was on.

Agreed, the problem is not the dashcam or the SD card. I ha already successfully transferred the files from the SD card to my pc. What tool are you speaking of for recovery?

I found this link for you. I haven't used this tool and do not know how well it will work, but if you use your mouse to drag one of the video files into the box on the screen, it will try to restore the damaged file.

You can do a net search for other tools, plenty of free tools on the net, some better than others.
