Sent my micro SD card through the wash

I swapped memory cards today and stuck the one I pulled from the car in my pocket. Normally I stick it in the card reader immediately after pulling it, but I got distracted. Eventually I changed clothes and put the shorts with my micro SD card into the wash. Fortunately, I realized what happened when I went to review the footage. The card went through the full wash cycle, but at least I remembered before I put it into the dryer.

It was in a microSD to SD adapter which I'm sure helped protect it some. There was a little bit of moisture on it when I pulled it from the adapter. It doesn't really seem like there's a place for water to enter and reach the sensitive bits. I dried it off, stuck it in the computer, and it worked!

I think they are better off without the adaptor. The adaptor is big enough to get bent, and it has places water can collect.

Might be a good idea to give it a good rinse in clean water, just to make sure no detergents, salts or perfumes are left on it, since they could cause corrosion over time. Do it in a bowl though, not under the tap, it is small enough to disappear under the tap!
