Am I missing something or GC really doesn't have snapshot (photo) feature?

You can take a full resolution frame grab from the video. (no need to stop the recording in progress)

Here's how in VLC Player:
https://wiki.videolan.org/Take_a_snapshot/

You can also save screen shots via RegistratorViewer (DataKam)
http://www.registratorviewer.com/features_en.html

Right. Not really sure about the first statement "no need to stop the recording in progress" - don't you have to take the card out?
The other two are not very optimal for me:

VLC requires turning off hardware acceleration (for MOV containers only?)
Reg viewer is Windows only (can run it in VirtualBox though :/ )

Add it to the feature request list?

If you're on Mac, DashCamViewer might support screen shots as well but not sure. https://dashcamviewer.com/features/
I'm not aware of the VLC limitation (works without doing anything extra on Windows)

Either way you need to take the card out to view what you captured on the big screen at home.

You can use the event save button to put the current clip being recorded into the RO (read only) folder as something happens for saving what you want later.

OK thanks, no biggie.
