Sometimes you do want a dashcam with an image stabiliser

Not sure what camera they were using, but I'm impressed by the stabilisation!
Also the 360 pan feature, much better than the 70mai Omni, it pointed where they wanted it to point...
Audio is pretty good too, the dashcam manufacturers could learn some lessons...

Very nice, Makes me wonder if it's EIS or a combination of that and optical, but then you get that crop.

Haven't been back to iceland in over a decade but plenty of that kind of stuff for the intrepid four wheel drivers

Thats Icelandic Sunday driving, you do not want to be there when they get angry.

Wonder if EIC can handle formula offroad

BTW Insta 360 launching new camera soon.

It appears to be a phone camera, so a mix of optical and EIS. It is visible in the side mirror when looking out the side.

They were working, that is their job!

This was a couple of weeks ago, they are trying to work out where the next lot will emerge:

When I had my Nextbase dashcams I would have liked some form of EIS as the 'hanging off a stalk" used to produce vibration

When I switched to a solid mount wedge shape dashcam, zero vibration

It's a hand-held phone, so most of the big movements are stabilised by the person's arm

I have a DJI Action Pro 5, and it stabilizes like this. You can also turn the camera all the way through 360 degrees and it will stay level (optional).

A moving car can do weird things to image stabilization on phones and action cameras.

They work so well at night too. Older ones were grainy.

This was testing in my tiny ecocar which is bumpy, but the stabilizer on standard mode was fine:

Haha I only skipped quickly through the whole video didn't watch the whole thing

I can only guess that dashcams don't have EIS because they're adhered to the windscreen with the adhesive or suction mount, so they are pretty steady. EIS is just more work and does give that little bit of bobby effect ...then again for something like an Omni that rotates it might be more beneficial to give some added stability.

It is uncanny how modern action cameras can stabilise things, my Ace pro do a good job at it too.
Pretty much any decent midrange phone upwards these days can do the same too, but will we see it in dashcams who knows ....

I think it would be counterproductive in a dashcam.
