So I ordered a G1W from ebay from a reputable seller, and 99% sure its not fake.

I have played with all of the settings and nothing is helping. The daytime videos look decent, but almost seems like someone turned the sharpness on like 1000x, lol. The nightime videos is where the quality is really realized. It does this sort of speckle thing all over. I will post a couple of screen shots.

Anyone else seen this type of performance?

argh...

Well thank you VERY much for your super quick reply! Crappy part is, i probably wont get it back in time for my vacation that i bought it for.

I found another on amazon that is PRIME so i can get it super quick, would you suggest buying this one?

Its obviously a g1wh, and not the g1w i have now, but i like the 140 degree lens.

Thanks again Pier28!!!!

Happy to help

Link seems ok, @spytec is good and is on the forum here as well.

Looks like sensor is overheating during night time shooting. Night is when it's driven highest to produce good detailed picture. Sometimes it can be fixed by flashing a different firmware but not always - nobody knows for sure what sensor voltage grid had been set by programmers except the programmers themselves.

@Anthony Lane
I don't think it's bad sensor.
I have few nt96650 based dashcams and while daytime video is great, night is like yours.
it's just pixilated trying to cope with low light and probably overexposure, MPEG compression , sharpening or noise reduction (or a combination) etc.
If you get another one, it will still be pixilated in dark areas or just black.
It won't give you night video that you expect.
Check night videos in my Z7 thread:
https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threa...-and-comparison-against-g1wh.6849/#post-82420

It has those blue spots but mostly in what otherwise would be pure black areas.
I don't think it's worth the trouble of returning just to get another one that either will be same or even darker. The best scenario is blue specks replaced by just plain black.
In my videos, the details are still there. Those specks actually brought more details compared to g1wh's plain black areas.
Z7 has more details at night even with blue/yellow blotches.
Here, walls on right and left shoulders are visible in Z7 video and more details on the sidewalk and shoulder:

No blue blotches here but can't see walls in G1WH video and shoulder is much darker:

Btw, I was expecting sparkling bright stars in the video but it's only speckled. ;)
