Not a Samsung schill, but curious as to what people's thoughts are about the new Samsung Pro Ultimate microSD cards? Surprised they didn't go for a 1TB capacity for one.

Wondering if the move to a new microcontroller architecture like they reference in their announcement - 28nm instead of the old 55nm. Whether that will translate to any tangible benefits for us dashcam users? Curious about the heat - we all know microSD cards can tolerate extreme operating temperatures, but if the card can run cooler when writing/reading then that might help our dashcams too..

This model is one of the newest additions to my test suite, and so far i have yet to find a system it do not work in.
100 % so far in my perspective.

You can usually never go wrong with Samsung I've found when it comes to memory / storage

The two others models i have are a bit on / off in dashcams.

Nice article. This will certainly make purchasing decisions simpler. There are too many model choices for some of these companies; the SanDisk lineup is mind-numbing. I wonder if there were any hardware changes in one of the series that Viofo will be able to recommend a T7 or T9?

Somehow doubt it, it really seems the T7 and T9 are just re-branded Pro Plus Ultimate that was released a couple/few years back. Viofo doesn't seem to have much luck unless it's recommending SanDisk cards.

And don't get them started on SSD's 😛

The Viofo and non-compatible Samsung issue may be related to Samsung's tendency to use its own-designed controllers; I presume that still holds true. In the article you linked, they show the interfaces and the Samsung card reader. I expect the rated values for write and read are only valid if the SDXC is used with a Samsung card reader.

You could very well be correct, still it's a device and well most devices that take microSD have a wide gamut of compatibility etc etc
