Dash Cam
Viofo a229+, Mini, WM1 :: Vantrue N2X, S1 Pro
Thinking about picking up the a119m pro for the 4k vs the a229 plus 2k I am using now. Thoughts on the two with image quality? Or it someone happens to own both and can do a side by side for night and day? I only use the a229 as a front cam and another for the cam for the rear so the multiple cam thing is not a factor for me.

Long time no see JD.
Oh boy, let’s see how much money I can get you to spend. lol

What are the reasons you’re not “happy” with A229 Plus 1CH on the front windshield?
1.) You just want 4K
2.) You want super fast Wi-Fi 6 download speeds
3.) You want LPID (low power impact detection)
4.) You want Hybrid Parking Mode
5.) Currently experiencing malfunctions

Have you thought about adding RTC320 Telephoto to your A229 Plus for $90?
What about A229 Pro 2CH Telephoto for $270?

Hey Chuck. Yeah, I would stop by from time to time to see what was going on and latest trends. Just didn't chime in.

Hahaha I spent way to much on tools the past year so probably not much. I do like the telephoto cam but wish viofo sold it on amz. I hate getting stuff from overseas. Always afraid of getting some huge bill from the shipping company or having to deal with customs. So I stick with just usa shipped stuff now.

I was just thinking about better vid quality. The 4k should be better just not really sure if it is that much of a difference with 2k dashcams and if it really is even worth the money for marginal improvement. My a229 plus has been working well other then it not liking the viofo sd cards after a while. Yet the same cards work in the viofo cam I use for the rear of my car.

Understandable, I just took a 2 month break January to February.
This place is CRAZY!
Of course I add to the craziness. lol

About 2 years ago it took 10-15 days for Viofo to ship standard post, (Hong Kong to California).
About 1 year ago shipping time was reduced 7-10 days.
I just received a package (standard post) shipped 3/25/26 & delivered 3/30/26.
That’s only 5 days including the weekend, (Wednesday to Monday).
So, shipping time has definitely been reduced.
I mentioned it to Bill, and he said; “Yeah, we have optimized our shipping logistics”.
Of course no tariffs either.
The package starts out with 4PX China, then delivered by USPS.

If you had no dash cam at all I would whole heartedly give my blessing for an A119M Pro purchase with no hesitation whatsoever.
HOWEVER!
Ever since I received A119M Pro 8/12/25, (6.5 months ago) and took it out of the box to check Bitrate I knew something was “off” and have been waiting for a correction ever since.
A119M PRO TESTING THREAD
I kept hoping, and hoping it would get “fixed” because VIOFO did not release first official public firmware until November 17, 2025 (V1.0_20251031).
I’m starting to rant so I will stop here, and say A119M Pro with it’s most current firmware is NOT worth $140 given you already have an A229 Plus installed.
I would wait a bit more.
Maybe we’ll get an all-new A139 Pro Max with X-Ray & Thermal vision in a few months.

Yeah I just saw someone had some overheating issues with the a119m.. Prolly just going to stick to the a229 for now.

Also just checked their firmware page I see current version for the a119m is
  • FWA119MP.bin
  • V1.1_20260109
  • 56.9 MB
  • 20260109
Man xray vision is one of those just take my money moments 🤣

Was also looking at the vantrue e1 and and 70mai a810s but saw a lot of heat issues with the e1 and the a810s has a battery with the supercapacitor with I do not leave any type of lithium battery in the car.

I still have hope for A119M Pro because it has a new / upgraded processor that I still don't know the Novatek # for.
I was hoping this new / upgraded processor was going to somehow provide 60Mbps Bitrate image quality at 30Mbps file size levels.
I guess we'll have to hurry up, and wait. lol

Where did you see this?
Link please?

Do you remember the first Sony Camcorder that had "night vision"?
It could see through shirts to see a brassiere 👀
vantrue e1
I actually have an E1 Pro on hand I specifically requested to compare with A119M Pro but, we need FIRMWARE.

Oh yeah did you ever see this;

VIOFO made a short with it;

You might want to check out the Vueroid S1-4K 1CH...
It has no battery or supercapacitor and is sold on Amazon.

The A810S does not have a battery.
It only has a capacitor that is there for a safe shutdown.
I never had issues with a capacitors.

I left the link in my comment if you clicked on page. Must have missed that but here https://www.viofo.com/pages/firmware?s=A119M Pro

On 70mai's page https://www.70mai.com/us/a810s/ all the way down when its comparing the a810s to the a810 it shows Supercapacitor + Button Cell Battery for the a810s. Not sure if it is lithium or an alkaline but still uses a battery.

About post #10 BUTTON CELL BATTERY

All dash cams use a button cell battery.
It's for the RCT (real time clock) and to keep settings.
Without button cell battery the camera would boot up to default setting every time you turned it off.
Button cell battery lasts around 7-10 years, (around the "usefull" life of the camera).
You can see threads here of people asking how to replace it in their original A119V2 from 7-10 years ago.

Thanks for info. I never opened on up and just missed it looking at tear downs. Least its an alkaline and not lithium then. I will look at the 70mai in the forums to see what others are saying.

I have repurposed my Vantrue E1 PRO to target camera, though i generally forget to put it up and just shoot the hell out of things off camera.

It’s got telephoto?
I’ve got to read up on it.
What’s the attraction? License plates?
