Hi,

I'm a long term Thinkware fan and recently when changing vehicle (and having to use a dreaded nextbase camera for a while!) I realised I REALLY miss the speed camera spoken warnings.

I've now gone to considerable effort to wire back in my U1000 - which is in the process of dying anyway (speaker noises when powering down?). I would move to a U3000 but can anyone confirm the speed camera warnings remain and what (if any) cables can be reused (power and rear camera cables).

Also if Thinkware want to help a long term customer with a discount or review unit please feel free to DM πŸ˜€

thanks!

You can reuse your existing power cable as it remains unchanged, but the U3000/U3000 Pro have a different rear camera cable (mini USB instead of micro USB) so you'll need to replace that.

The U3000/U3000 Pro both support speed camera warnings, but you will need to install the data file in the Dash Cam Link app as it is not preloaded by default. Luckily, the Dash Cam Link app is a lot easier to set up and use compared to the U1000's old Thinkware Cloud app.

Ahh ok, are the speed camera alerts still as good in terms of clarity? ie: English is very clear. I know about the duplications but I'd rather that than none.

Gutted about the rear camera though - massive pain in the ass to get through to the tailgate πŸ™ Thanks for your help!

They are. You now have individual volume control for the speed camera alerts as well as an option to switch between an American and a British accent (which we don't think was possible with the U1000).

We understand where you're coming from with the rear camera as well, but considering how the rear cable remained unchanged when they replaced the original U3000 with the U3000 Pro, we'd assume it would still remain the same if they were to introduce any newer models in the U3000 series. Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions.
