Unable to Update latest Firmware On E1Pro

Awesome! @Jeff_Vantrue - is the above protocol is common across all (recent) Vantrue cameras?

@hgj Just FYI, There is another later Firmware version available for the E1 Pro since your 10/21/25 update

I just upgraded the firmware to the most recent version today.

Easy peasy. Downloaded, and uploaded and installed without any issues.

How did it go?
My dash cam has not been able to download any updates so far. The cam still takes a photo when not told to do so. My next step is to revert back to factory settings then start from being new. Guess that is the only thing I can try to do to get it sorted. Thank you to everyone for the help.

Sorry to hear that your dash cam is still unable to update successfully.
Could you please send us a screenshot of the files you copied to the root directory of the SD card? We’d like to check whether the correct firmware file is being used and placed properly.
Thank you for your patience, and we’ll do our best to help you get this sorted out.

Hi Everyone, Wanted to give an update on the problem I had with my dash cam. After many hours with me trying to update with no results, I finally got the cam to update. Seems the VanTrue 256GB memory card I bought was not working/accepting the update. Today I finally decided to give the cam one last try to correct my situation. I installed a memory card I had not used and it accepted the update, so when I drive out this weekend will see how the cam records now. I knew something had to be wrong since the cam would take a photo or lock the video without me saying anything. So I finally thought either the memory card or the cam was defective.

About the issue where it was taking a photo or locking a video without any command, could you let us know when this was happening? For example, were you driving or parked?
Please note that if the camera detects vibration or a bump, it can trigger the G-sensor. When that happens, it will automatically lock the current video and may take a snapshot. Even small vibrations can activate it, depending on the sensitivity setting.
You can try lowering the G-sensor sensitivity in the settings if needed.

I have myself at times over the years experienced that FW updates with the large card i was using would not take, so upon starting up the system it would just boot and carry on as normal ignoring the .bin file on the memory card.
So since then i am using small memory cards for these manual updates, 32 Gb and smaller.

This is something i have experienced with just about all brands over the years.
Generally though these days i do prefer to do OTA updating using my phone.

The randon pic taking, this is something i still get, even in a dead silent car with no radio or anything going, got one just a few days ago.
I have given up on trying to figure out what do this, and as it is pretty rare i am not bothered.

I also get random pictures with the A229 Pro and Plus whenever the cameras feels like it (unrelated to any obvious vibration), but not often enough to be concerned.
I use 256 GB SD cards for both cameras and have not had trouble loading FW in either camera.

The locking of the video or taking a photo would occur either sitting in a parking space or driving. I know that a bump in the road will trigger the cam but sometimes a very little bump in the road would trigger the cam but a very severe vibration, railroad crossing example, would not. One time I gave the command to lock the video for an important place I was driving around and the cam made the sound but when I returned home the video was missing from that file. Tomorrow I will see if the new memory card I installed will solve the problems I was having. At least now I can perform the updates to the cam that I could not do with the Vantrue 256 GB memory card since that card was defective.

Update to my new memory card being installed. Seems to be working ok at this time. Only thing is under the Events sometimes the event will show in fast-forward mode & at other times in regular play mode. I did as Jeff_Vantrue advised me to do and changed the G-sensor from a 3 to 2. That did seem to correct many false actions on the cam. I thank Jeff_Vantrue for that advice & everyone else that tried to solve my challenges I had with the cam.
