Hey guys, I have a 650 and am unhappy with the footage quality. it seems skippy and grainy. I sent it back and got a replacement unit...that unit was out of focus from the factory and sent that one back. So heres my dilemma: I'm trying to figure out if what I have (the original camera) is as good as its going to get or if I should try one more time. Can any of you that have this camera post footage of you driving to I can compare? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
JM

I will go for other dash cam instead of blackvue, so much problem

What camera would you recommend me replacing it with?

Yikes, ... And here I thought that the 650 BlackVu is my utopia car dash cam system that I was going to upgrade to, ... your posting has me thinking now, ... as I do not like graininess of the image nor skippy-ness of the video footage.

Why does the BlackVu 650 get such wonderful reviews on blackboxmycar.com ?

'Skippy & grainy' does not sound right, best option would be to upload some of the raw video files from the sd card directly.

Couple of things;

1. Playing back the video in the BlackVue player will sometimes look different to the actual raw video file quality (depends on the PC)
2. Using non-pittasoft cards can cause skipping in the video
3. Angle of sensor should be adjusted with dash and road taking up the majority of the video space, with minimal sky recording

Here is some raw footage from another thread I created.
https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/grainy-footage.13329/

I took the advice of people on this previous thread and angled the camera down. The footage quality actually got worse. The camera was now focusing the on my dashboard and hood of my car and the roadway was out of focus.

1. Im watching the raw footage
2. Im using the Pittasoft card
3. explained above

here is some more footage: the background just seems fuzzy here too. All of the footage ive seen from the DR500GW for example, has been better than any footage my camera has ever shot.

Do I need to send the camera back AGAIN and get another replacement?

@David-ogopogodude I never seem any website with "BAD COMMON" on the product they sell.= =
Only third party website like ebay or Amazon will let people post the real review.

@thejm After I saw the footage in the dropbox, I was like wtf. I think 1080P shouldn't like this. The dash cam might have problem? The footage is worst than 720p
Did you check the setting? Might be setting problem.

I have found it makes a big difference with what you view the video with. The BlackVue PC viewer is garbage. The RegistratorViewer is a much better viewer.. and viewing the *.mp4 file in any Windows PC player may be best??

My attempts to post video from my DR650 1CH was not very satisfactory so I posted this on my own web site. These are 1 minute clips as cropped by RegistratorViewer

I have nothing to compare this too but am reasonably happy with the results... I think:)

I have changed it to 720 and lowered the frame rate...it didn't do anything to help the problem. Thanks for the advise though.
