BUT (stick with me here) the price on the page is in AUS soooo one could conclude the price in small print is assumed to be also AUS!

One can only hope AND with Australian consumer protection pricing laws/rules might be considered as reasonable.

Won't apply here. For example most Chinese shopping sites, when you load the page, default to USD (unless you've visited before and set it to AUD or whatever currency you've decided)

It's a non starter and just how it is really

I wanted to write a few words about this device.
I have had it since July 2024. During this time, it has started more than ten cars. Although not often, this function is in demand.
Well, it has charged phones, smartphones and iPhones so many times that it is impossible to count.
No changes in operation or capacity have been noticed yet.
It was supposed to be used as a power source for a video recorder in a parking lot.
But the trick failed.
JS1 supplies power to any device connected to it for 4 hours and then turns off. And nothing can be done about it.
I like the device itself, but my son likes it even more. He uses it as a power bank. And this power bank has a good capacity.
Based on my tests, if JS1 did not turn off after 4 hours, its capacity would be enough to operate Mini 2 with a high bit rate for about 35 hours.
 
I never got the chance to test one but it's good to hear it worked well.

What is the reason it shuts off after 4 hours?

I understand it is done by design.
I was wondering if Vantrue had said why it does that.
Eg to protect the batteries, to maintain a voltage level to extend the unit life etc.

They want to remove this limitation in the copies that will be released.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to remove this limitation in the copies that have already been sold.

Jeff has Vantrue looked in to making the unit work longer than 4 hours?

@Karagandinez did Vantrue ever send you another unit with a switch or something added that would allow the unit to run longer than 4Hrs?

When I contacted a representative of Vantrue, I received a response that the devices that will be released after my request will work more than 4 hours.
It is impossible to make my copy work longer than 4 hours.

I would have thought they would have sent out a new unit for you to test given you raised the problem with them and they said they had fixed it.

I asked Jeff Vantrue about this kind of work of JS1 back on July 7, 2024, but did not receive an answer then.
Perhaps the person I spoke with then no longer worked for the company at that time.
This year, I got in touch with another Vantrue representative, to whom I asked a question about the work of JS1.
He answered me that it is impossible to make my copy work longer than 4 hours.
It is a shame, of course, that JS1 cannot be used to power a video recorder in a parking lot. (4 hours is not enough).
But with its other duties: charging portable devices, helping to start a car engine with a discharged battery, JS1 copes perfectly.
 
At the moment there is an opportunity to buy JS1 Car Jump Starter at a very favorable price.
