I’ve been waiting for it ever since, but apparently to no avail...

They are going to be mailing here very soon. I was told they are going out starting now in batches. I'm waiting my turn. Here's the email I received:

Good news! We’re planning to start sending out P2 sample units for testing on July 3. Thank you for your patience—we're excited to hear your feedback!

Sorry for the wait. We're currently working to get the P2 shipments out as quickly as possible.

I am in contact with Vantrue Staff, and that was the message I received yesterday, when I inquired about the timeline to receive my P2 sample. Wendy let them know about my extensive assistance, and thus, I was put in contact with the team taking over while she's on Maternity Leave.

On October 31, 2025, Wendy offered to let me test a new model from Vantrue: the Vantrue P2 Thermal Dashcam.
Naturally, I agreed. I enjoy testing new things—especially since I hadn't encountered a system like this before.
The official release of the model had been postponed several times as it underwent further refinement and improvement.
And today, the mail carrier delivered a package containing the new unit.
I would like to thank Wendy and the entire Vantrue team for providing me with this unit for testing.

Here is a side image of the main camera with the mounting surface as far forward as it will go. As you can see, this camera will clearly mount on a fully vertical front window like on a bus or a truck. This is a very nice feature!

And here is the same perspective with the mount rotated fully in the opposite direction. This greatly increases the range of mounting positions and locations for the forward facing camera!

Which takes us to the first, cool, new feature for the main camera. It sports a brand new windshield mount design that is pretty awesome! You might...

It turns out I’m the only one who didn’t get the hardwire kit...
But on the plus side, I have a CPL filter. 😎

Nice.

I managed to modify and so secure the rear camera of my S1Pro Max system yesterday, the one with the funny mount, it is now locked in and not going any where.
Also found out the fuse on my adjustable mirrors did not break, the switch for them did, but break in a manner that was fixable with a little CA glue.

Looking forward to seeing some live action with these, in regard to at speed plate capture day / night
And of course also the performance of the thermal part, though there are are talking do the smarts work and not so much image resolution.

Ill be god damned if i can find the wire harness for my 70mai power pack, or the input side at least, so i have ordered a new plug but the store i think are on holiday did not get any order confirmation on Friday.
Looking forward to getting the Vantrue 4G kit installed again.

Now that i was CA gluing in the car, and the spray glue i used to glue black fabric to my DIY dash mat did not work well, well i gave it a little CA glue along the very edge so there it aint coming loose again.

Also the fuse box in my new car, while more easy to get to as it is just under the dashboard at the drivers knees, it is set so deep in there and all manner of stupid wires criss crossing in front of it.
So i went and got a 300 mm long needle nose pliers to pull the fuses, which worked excellent though putting fuse back in, not so much so had to just jam a fist with a micro ATO fuse in there and then work by feel.

Left probe in glove box so i am ready to move once i get that plug for the power pack, i already gotten both micro and normal ATO fuse taps ready, just got to figure out which ones to use there are quite a few unused slots in among the regular ATO fuses.

I've found that the rear CPL filter is critical in my ES350 with the crazy tilted rear window that throws reflections everywhere but is probably not going to be necessary on my truck's rear window when I install the P2.
These rear windows could not be much different.

I was talking about the CPL filter for the main camera.
My cars don't need a CPL filter for the rear-window camera. 😉

I use to run CPL on rear cameras if possible, most of all to remove reflections in car behind windscreen, not so much my own even if the vertical rear window in the old car would even catch reflections of oncoming cars at night.
The New French car rear glass is like at a 45 deg angle, so something i am not at all used to, the hat shelf though nice dark felt so dont think that in itself would give much reflections.
