Vantrue S1 Pro Max coming soon (Pre-orders now live!, shipping after July 1st 2025)

From photos in the post here it doesn't look too much bigger than what may be mounted for existing rear RC-numbered sensors
It does have a longer lens barrel and decent sized lens, I'd guess that is an IMX678.

Why guess? It is an IMX678. Seems like this will be the year where Imx678 are put into barrel form for rear sensors.

Nigel is from a culture, where guessing wrong, mean there is a bunch of Danes knocking them on the head with axe, or you scramble the whole village to run from what turn out was just a merchant passing by.

Lol I'm part Welsh myself, doesn't mean I'm arrogant.

Honda had the best blind spot system that I know of. They had an actual camera as part of the passenger side mirror for when you were doing LH turns (Aust.), pity they never incorporated one into the RH mirror. The camera was projected onto the Infotainment Screen.
Hyundai projects either the left or right mirror cameras onto the tach and speedo whenever you activate the corresponding turn indicator. Good idea, but in practice I'm busy looking in the mirror or out the window rather than the instrument console.

You're not arrogant if you're right, and arrogant people are always right (even when they don't know what they're talking about) - if you don't believe me just ask one of them. 🙄

Sorry for being pedantic, but you just 'guessed' in your other thread...

Since the S1 Pro Max appears (not confirmed for sure) a 4K rear sensor (guessing imx678 barrel type), then the N4 Pro S could also get a 4k rear

Would make total sense though if it's the flagship solution for Vantrue

Despite invading Danes (I hope my Danish in-laws do not read this), 😆 and guessing Welshmen, this looks to be not just the year for IMX678, but a pivotal year where dash cam makers take a major leap in hardware and software features for dash cams. This S1 Pro Max looks very interesting, but so do several other cams on their way to the market. This will be a fun year for users.

Not sure what I think about the manual input method used on this S1, I tend to fumble more with this method than with other methods.

I did not say that I was guessing, I said that I would guess that that camera has an IMX678, because of the size and shape, if you hadn't already told us that it was. A response to your post:

Which I think was a response to my question:

Is the rear camera larger than normal, or have they used a smaller 4K sensor like the IMX415?
You appear to be saying that it has a large rear camera, although I don't think we have seen an image of the Vantrue 4K rear yet, that has any way of judging the scale... the image in post #1 does appear to have a rather thin cable, maybe it is actually a normal thickness cable and the rear camera is quite large.

Your exact words were "I'd guess" so yes that's guessing. How can one argue otherwise.

I heavily suspect we will see more of these RC units this year going into next year, that have Imx678 at the back. Unless OmniVision also have a 4k sensor cooking, but so far they only have the 2.5k that's only popped up in the Wolfbox g900 TriPro for now

I hope they have improved the rubber because the original S1 Pro was a bit too spongy to keep pushing. Reminds me of resistive touchscreens on phones back in the day, where you had to keep physically pushing it in to get it going.

As I suspected correctly, the rear will have a 4K Sony Imx678 sensor, and also great to see that it is waterproof IP67 at that.

2025 is definitely the year of rear 4K IMX678 sensors, whether barrel or waterproof bracket mounting like this one.

when sell
for which dashsam?
i think e1pro can not use

I am not sure the waterproof camera will survive my car wash regime, it do not look solid enough mounted to me.

Some times the car wash nearly rip off my rear window wiper.

If the car wash nearly rips off your rear window wiper then that's a problem with your wipers or vehicle itself.
