Viewing and formatting .avi files. (Solved!)

I am unable to open a .avi file on a SD card in my little unbranded dashcam.
Also, I cannot get the computer to recognise the card in both Linux Mint 19.3 and in Win 7 operating systems.
As a result, I cannot re format the card and start afresh with new recordings on it.
Can someone help out here please?

If you want the file on the sdcard try a partition manager program. Setting/resetting the partition might give you back access to the file.

GParted is a free program.

I gave GParted a try. That would not open it too.

Yes it does. I have come around to that conclusion. Even though this one is not old, possibly 3- 6 months max.
